Massage & Holistic Therapy

Therapeutic Massage

This is a mixed modality, customized massage to address pain, tension and stress in the body and mind, through a variety of healing techniques such as acupressure, triggerpoint, neuromuscular therapy, deep tissue, reflexology, energy work and more. The pressure can be light or deep depending on the preference of each individual client. The goal is to release muscles, bring balance and to reduce stress and pain in the body.

Ashiatsu

This is a unique style of massage called Ashiatsu. In the Japanese language “Ashi” translates to foot and “Atsu” into pressure. Using the padded soles of the feet the therapist can relieve many pain issues in the body by getting deeper into the muscles more comfortably than a traditional massage. Ashiatsu can accomplish better, longer lasting results in less sessions

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stones create a deeply relaxing massage experience. This is a therapeutic or relaxation massage that incorporates the use of hot stones to create the ultimate relaxation experience. The stones warm and soften muscles in addition to increasing blood flow in the body.

Prenatal Massage

Relaxation massage for expecting mothers. Performed with the mother laying on her side and blustered appropriately. Helps relieve back and hip pain and accommodates the changes experienced while going through the different stages of pregnancy. Relieves tension, promotes relaxation and eases stress for mother and baby!

Gua Sha

Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain. Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy, called chi, in the body that practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation. Inflammation is the underlying cause of several conditions associated with chronic pain. Rubbing the skin’s surface is thought to help break up this energy, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

Reflexology

Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet (or the hands). The theory behind reflexology is that areas of the foot correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to the foot is believed to bring relaxation and healing to the corresponding area of the body. Several studies indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as stress and anxiety, and enhance relaxation and sleep. Given that reflexology is also low risk, it can be a reasonable option if you're seeking relaxation and stress relief.

TCM Cupping Therapy

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Cupping Therapy was made famous in the US by Michael Phelps with his "red dots" in the 2016 Summer Olympics. But Cupping therapy has been used for thousands of years in other parts of the world. I describe this therapy as a reverse massage. It releases adhesions, moves blood and chi stagnation and toxin buildup in the muscle tissue by pulling up on the muscle with suction instead of pushing down on the muscle with pressure. It is a very powerful and effective treatment providing lasting results and bringing balance to both the physical and energetic body.

Craniosacral Therapy

This therapy utilizes gentle energetic holds on the head, neck, upper thoracic region, sacrum, and legs. It helps to rebalance the Cerebrospinal fluid in the body. It can help to relieve conditions such as Headaches and Migraines, Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury, Chronic Neck and Back Pain, Autism, Stress and Tension-Related Disorders, Motor-Coordination Impairments, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, TMJ, Learning Disabilities, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, Orthopedic Problems, and many other conditions.

This video gives a brief description and demonstration of Ashiatsu massage so you can see how the massage is performed and know what to expect with this “deepest and most luxurious massage on earth”.

  • Drink plenty of water the day of the massage as this massage is much deeper than other types of massage and therefore can release more toxins into the bloodstream.
  • This massage includes full body strokes. You remain modestly draped through the entire massage, but it will be necessary to dress down completely for this massage style.
  • Come prepared with any questions you may have or issues you want your therapist to focus on.

Ashiatsu can be light to deep pressure, but because of the deep compressions/strokes that some clients request, the following unique contraindications exist.  Again, this list includes, but is not limited to:

  • Implants (such as pace makers or breast implants)
  • Frail individuals
  • Osteoporosis
  • Pregnancy (or possible pregnancy)
  • Varicose veins
  • Protruding or ruptured discs
  • Kidney disorders

“I will never get any type of massage other than Ashi again! Seriously the best massage I have EVER had!”
